39TH Surajkund International Atmanirbhar Craft Festival: A perfect confluence of vibrant Indian and World Cultures!

Bharat is a land where people from varied traditional and cultural backgrounds live together under one roof! It will be wrong to state the various Festivals of the Country - Bharat are a perfect kaleidoscope of witnessing the rich traditional and cultural heritage of the Country on a single platform!

In such a direction, the Surajkund International Crafts Mela has been a perfect example of cultural exchange. Being here, one can find a perfect opportunity to get closer to know the richness of the various traditions and cultures of the Country alongwith the different Countries of the world; all at one place only.

Like every Year, this Year too the Government of Haryana has organized the Surajkund International Crafts Mela at Surajkund Area in Faridabad District. But, this Year, the new name of the Mela has been a mark of attraction for many. This Year, keeping the main aim of the Government of India to promote the indigenous trade practices and aligning with the Government’s “Vocal for Local” Mission, the renowned Mela has been renamed as “Surajkund International Atmanirbhar Craft Mela / Festival! This is completely true reflection of the Government’s commitments to make the Centurie-old rich Indian tradional and cultural practices go global!

This Year, the Festival being organized from 31ST January to 15TH February - 2026, marks 39 Years of its glorious journey.

The Mela was formally inaugurated by the Hon’ble Vice-President of India, Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan.

Shri Nayab Singh Saini, Chief Minister of Haryana regarded the Mela as a powerful cultural and economic platform that honors the Artisans, preserves treaditional skills and connects the Country’s Crfatsmanship with the sustainable livelihoods. Shri Saini underlined the opportunities that are being provided to the Country’s culturally rich Artisans to confluence and showcase their skills at the world level.

The Union Minister of State, Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar; Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister, Shri Vipul Goel; Heritage and Tourism Minister, Dr. Arvind Sharma; Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Shri Rajesh Nagar; Minister of State for Sports, Shri Gaurav Gautam and B.J.P. State President, Shri Mohan Lal Kaushik alongwith the other Senior Officers and Distinguished Guests also marked their presence during the Inaugural Ceremony of the Mela.

Providing a perfect depiction of the Incredible India through the Artisans’ craftsmanship, the Mela has registered the pareticipation by Artisnas from every State and Union Territories of the Nation. Ranging from the Bamboo Craftsmanship of the North-East to Silk Sarees of the South, vibrant embroidery of the West and intricate Wood Carving of North India, the Mela is providing a chance to get indulged with the vast spectrum of “Incredible India”.

This Year has marked the participation of Uttar Pradesh and Meghalaya as the Partner States alongwith Egypt’s participation as the Partner Nation. It has proved to add a strong International dimension to the Fair.

Keeping a pace with the ever growing modern technologies and enabling the Artisans to up-skill their tradition-old cultural practices, the Fair has proved to be a perfect stage for them.

The participation of 700 Foreign Delegates from more than 50 Countries are really a mark of the Fair’s popularity at the global stage.
