Aadhaar App: A step towards Digital India Mission!

Having the Aadhaar Card and its Number are deemed to be a mark of Citizen in the Country - Bharat! The 12 Digits long Aadhaar Card Number is not just a Number; but, is a true mark of Identity and Citizenship that a person has in the Country.

In the recent endeavors of keeping a pace with the ever changing and advancing digital and technological era and refining and transforming the public-centric Services in the Country, the U.I.D.A.I. has also enabled the Aadhaar Services to go digital!

In such an andeavor, the Minister of State for Commerce and Industry and Electronics & Information Technology, Shri Jitin Prasada dedicated the new Aadhaar App to the Nation. It is indeed seen to mark a significant milestone in Identity Verification keeping the people at its core.

The App has been developed by the Unique Identification Authority of India (U.I.D.A.I.). The App is regarded as a next-generation Mobile Application that has been designed for providing the Aadhaar Numbers Holders (A.N.H.) Citizens with a secure, convenient and privacy-first way for carrying, sharing, showing and verifying their digital identities at ease.

Acclaiming the Aadhaar as a digital governance showpiece for the Government of India, Shri Prasada underlined the U.I.D.A.I.’s pivotal role to make the Service delivery to be hassle-free and seamless. The Minister stressed that the App will be influential in accelerating the process further.

Shri S. Krishan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology asserted on the App’s efficiency in promoting data minimisation coupled with enhancing security and selective sharing of information by the respective Aadhaar Number Holders.


Shri Neelkanth Mishra, Chairman, U.I.D.A.I. regarded the initiative as a perfect reflection of going Online in line with the Government of India’s Digital India Mission. He stressed that the journey from paper to paperless is a great step forward. Shri Mishra also asserted on U.I.D.A.I.’s commitment of keeping the people at the centre of its action and innovation.

Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar, C.E.O., U.I.D.A.I. underlined the App’s key feature as selective credential sharing. He stressed that the App enables the Residents to share only the specific identity fields required for a particular use case through customised Q.R. Codes generated by the requesting entities.

*•* Useful in allowing the optional Face Verification, Age Verification for Cinema Tickets Bookings, Hospital Admissions for the Visitors & Attendants, Verification of Gig Workers and Service Partners, etc.

*•* Advanced functionalities like Fave Verification for proof of Presence, Biometric Lock / Unlock in a single Click, viewing of Authentication History and a Q.R.-based Contact Card for ease of sharing of the Contact Details, etc., are a few of the additional facilities that the App will provide to the users.

*•* Perfect for enabling “One Family - One App” Concept by allowing management of upto 5 Aadhaar Profiles on a Single Device.

*•* Alongside the facilities like updating Address, the Ap will enable the residents to update their Registered Mobile Numbers through the App only.

These Features are not only in line with providing the Citizens a break from driving a long way for visiting the Aadhaar Centres; but, also enable them to just get all the Aadhaar related Services at the Tap of a Button on the App only.
