AAP Demands Amit Shah Meeting Over Alleged Doctor Assault by BJP MLA Harish Khurana

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday demanded an urgent meeting with union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Delhi Police Commissioner over the alleged assault of a doctor posted with Acharya Bhikshu Hospital in Moti Nagar.
The AAP has alleged that the doctor was allegedly attacked by BJP MLA Harish Khurana.
AAP has claimed that despite complaints from 40 doctors, no First Information Report (FIR) was registered in the case.
The incident allegedly occurred on August 21 at Acharya Shree Bhikshu Hospital. AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that an intern doctor was assaulted by the MLA and his supporters, calling it a "shameful" act.
Bharadwaj contrasted the police response in this case with the recent arrest of a man for an attempted attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, questioning why no FIR has been filed against the BJP legislator.
He also referenced a past incident at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata, after which a consensus was reached for hospitals to file institutional FIRs in such cases. He questioned why the Medical Superintendent of Acharya Shree Bhikshu Hospital had not yet done so.
In a formal letter to the Home Minister, AAP's Chief Whip and Burari MLA, Sanjeev Jha, wrote that the incident has caused anger among the hospital's doctors, who have expressed concerns about their safety. Jha stated that the involvement of an elected representative raises serious questions about law and order.
The party has requested a meeting with the central authorities to present their case and ensure an FIR is registered. They allege that their requests for an appointment have been stonewalled since Thursday.
