Air India flight from Tokyo to Delhi diverts to Kolkata due to persistent cabin temperature issue

An Air India flight from Tokyo to Delhi had to make an unexpected stop in Kolkata on Saturday after the crew noticed an unusual rise in cabin temperature. The airline said the decision to divert the flight was a precaution to ensure passenger safety and comfort.

Flight AI357, operated by a Boeing 787, was flying from Haneda Airport in Tokyo to New Delhi when the crew reported a “persistent warm temperature” inside the cabin. To be safe, they chose to land in Kolkata for checks.

An Air India spokesperson confirmed, “Flight AI357 from Haneda to Delhi on June 29, 2025, made a precautionary diversion to Kolkata due to a persistent warm temperature in the cabin. The plane landed safely and is currently undergoing inspections.”

Passengers were supported by Air India’s ground staff in Kolkata, who are helping arrange alternate flights to Delhi as soon as possible.

“Our teams in Kolkata are doing everything to assist passengers and reduce inconvenience caused by this unforeseen diversion. We are working to get them to Delhi at the earliest. We sincerely regret the trouble caused,” the spokesperson added.

Technical checks are underway, and the airline is making sure all affected passengers receive the assistance they need.
