Amit Shah: Violence Down 80% in Kashmir, Northeast and Maoist Areas Post Article 370 Abrogation

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said that violence in Kashmir, Northeast, and Maoist-affected areas has reduced by 80 percent following the abrogation of Article 370. Speaking at the 79th Raising Day celebrations of Delhi Police, he expressed confidence that these regions will soon be completely free from violence.
Shah noted that Maoist terrorism, spread across 11 states, has always posed a significant challenge to the country's internal security.
The Home Minister laid the foundation stone for a Delhi Police Special Cell Integrated Headquarters, to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 345 crore. The facility is set to become one of the country's most advanced centres to combat narcotics trafficking and terrorism.
The state-of-the-art complex will be equipped with a modern indoor firing range, a war room, a cyber lab, training halls, and advanced equipment to enhance operational efficiency. Shah said it will emerge as an ideal Special Cell Headquarters model for police departments across the country.
Shah inaugurated the first phase of the Safe City Project, dedicating the modern Integrated Command Control Communication and Computer Centre to the people of Delhi. The facility was built at a cost of approximately Rs 857 crore.
The Home Minister praised the Special Cell for its crucial role in investigating narcotics syndicates, fake Indian currency rackets, cybercrime cases, and several major terror incidents.
Commissioner Satish Golcha highlighted key achievements, including seizure of over 6,000 kilograms of narcotic substances last year under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The Special Cell is actively pursuing 32 fugitive criminals operating from abroad, with two successfully extradited last year.
Delhi Police has become the first force in the country to register suo motu FIRs in cyber fraud cases exceeding Rs 1 lakh.
