Arunachal SARAS Fair 2026 Inaugurated, Showcasing Women-Led Rural Enterprise

The Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM) on Friday inaugurated the third edition of Arunachal SARAS Fair 2026, a vibrant celebration of rural entrepreneurship and women-led Self Help Groups (SHGs), at DK Convention Centre, here.
The event was formally opened by Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Ojing Tasing, in the presence of dignitaries, including Advisor to the Minister, RD & PR, Taniya Soki; Secretary, RD & PR, Dr Sonal Swaroop; and Sangeeta Yirang, CEO-cum-State Mission Manager, ArSRLM.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Ojing Tasing lauded the efforts of women SHGs in strengthening rural livelihoods and assured continued government support to help them achieve greater success.
Describing SARAS as a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Rural Development under DAY-NRLM, the Minister said the fair truly reflects the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat at the grassroots level.
He stated that SARAS Mela is more than just a fair; it is a powerful platform that showcases the strength, creativity, and resilience of women SHGs.
Tasing highlighted that the event celebrates women-led development, rural entrepreneurship, and the rich diversity of indigenous skills, crafts, and traditional products across the country.
He further emphasised that SARAS plays a vital role in bridging rural producers with urban markets, promoting sustainable livelihoods, and transforming local enterprises into engines of inclusive growth.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, the Minister said such initiatives are key to empowering women, strengthening rural economies, and ensuring that development reaches the last mile with dignity, opportunity, and self-reliance at its core.
During the ceremony, two women farmer producer companies received financial assistance: Retusa WFPCL was awarded a cheque of Rs 357 lakh, while Kenna WFPCL received Rs 364 lakh.
The Minister also inaugurated “Arunima”, a dedicated retail outlet showcasing products made by SHGs from across Arunachal Pradesh.
The first outlet has been opened at Hollongi Airport, while another has been launched in Itanagar. Symbolically, the Minister handed over the keys of the outlets to SHG members, marking a significant milestone in expanding market access for rural entrepreneurs.
This year’s Arunachal SARAS Fair features women entrepreneurs from 25 districts of the state, along with participants from West Bengal, Nagaland, and Manipur. Catering units supported under ArSRLM, popularly known as Mother Kitchens, are also participating from various districts of Arunachal Pradesh as well as from Sikkim.
In addition to promoting entrepreneurship, the festival offers a vibrant cultural programme, including K-pop dance competitions, cosplay contests, traditional dance performances, pet shows, and live music by artists.
Arunachal SARAS 2026 will be held till January 25, providing a unique platform to showcase handmade products, traditional delicacies, cultural heritage, and the entrepreneurial spirit of rural women.
