ASI Suspended for Misconduct in Liquor Smuggling Case

On the orders of Shri Rajneesh Kumar Singh, Commissioner Excise-cum-Inspector General of Registration, Bihar, the Assistant Sub Inspector in Charge of Supaul was suspended with immediate effect for being involved in serious misconduct dated 31.12.2024.

This action was taken on the basis of a complaint in which four accused were caught with excessive amount of liquor/beer in Simrahi police station area. Kamlesh Kumar Thakur, Assistant Sub Inspector in Charge, Prohibition, Supaul, with the help of other personnel, tried to hide the liquor/beer with the intention of smuggling.

On receiving information about the case, Shri Rajneesh Kumar Singh, Commissioner Excise-cum-Inspector General of Registration, ordered an immediate inquiry to ascertain the veracity of the complaint. A joint investigation was conducted into the matter. After investigation, it was reported that Kamlesh Kumar Thakur, misusing his position, was hiding the seized liquor/beer with the help of other employees at another place. In the investigation, it became clear that by this act, Kamlesh Kumar Thakur not only misused his position but also tarnished the image of the department.

Hence, considering him guilty prima facie, Kamlesh Kumar Thakur, Assistant Sub Inspector in charge of Prohibition, Supaul has been suspended with immediate effect by taking disciplinary action.
