Bengaluru: Assam Man Arrested for Murdering Live-In Partner, Dumping Body in Garbage Truck

A 33-year-old man from Assam has been arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly murdering his live-in partner and attempting to dispose of her body by dumping it in a garbage truck. The shocking incident took place late Saturday night, and the suspect was apprehended within 20 hours, police said.
The accused, Shamshuddin, was in a live-in relationship with 40-year-old Asha, a widow from Bengaluru. Though married in Assam, he had been living with Asha in a rented house in the Chennammanakere Achukattu area for the past six months. The couple, both employed by a housekeeping products company near Hulimavu, had introduced themselves to their landlord as husband and wife.
According to police, ongoing tensions in the relationship led to a fatal altercation on Saturday. Investigators believe Shamshuddin strangled Asha during a heated argument, reportedly triggered by her alleged alcohol use and late-night phone calls.
After the murder, Shamshuddin allegedly placed her body in a bag, transported it about 20 km on his bike, and dumped it into a BBMP garbage truck before fleeing. CCTV footage from the area helped police track his movements and identify his vehicle. He was arrested on Sunday night.
“Around 2 am, the woman’s body was discovered in a garbage truck. A murder case was registered based on a complaint by local residents,” said DCP (South Division) Lokesh B. Jagalasar.
The landlord, Manjunath, said the couple had been living in his property for six months. “We believed they were husband and wife. We were shocked when the police came and told us about the murder,” he told reporters.
Police have registered a case of murder and are continuing their investigation.
