BEU Signs MoU With INFLIBNET to Provide Free National-Level Digital Research Access to Engineering Students in Bihar

An important Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today between Bihar Engineering University (BEU), Patna and the Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) Centre, Gandhinagar. Under this agreement, students, research scholars and faculty members of all government engineering colleges in the state will receive institutional and free access to national-level digital academic and research resources.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Pradip Kumar, Registrar, Bihar Engineering University, and Prof. Devika P. Madalli, Director, INFLIBNET Centre. On the occasion, Hon’ble Minister for Science, Technology & Technical Education, Shri Sunil Kumar, Departmental Secretary Dr. Pratima, Director Shri Ahmad Mahmood, Vice-Chancellor of Bihar Engineering University Prof Suresh Kant Verma, along with other senior officials, were present.

Under the MoU, Bihar Engineering University and all its affiliated government engineering colleges will gain access to services such as ShodhGanga, ShodhShuddhi (Plagiarism Detection System), One Nation One Subscription (ONOS), IRINS, SOUL Library Automation System, IndCat, ShodhChakra, INFED, ILMS, ShodhPrabha and INFYMEET. Through these platforms, integrated and authenticated access to e-journals, e-books, theses, patents, conference information and other digital research resources will be ensured.

Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Minister Shri Sunil Kumar said that the Bihar Government is continuously working towards linking technical education with knowledge, research and innovation. He stated that digital platforms like INFLIBNET provide students and researchers with high-quality academic content on a single platform, enabling students of government engineering colleges in Bihar to access learning and research resources at par with leading institutions of the country. He added that this initiative aligns with the State Government’s vision of making technical education more accessible, transparent and quality-driven.

Providing details of the MoU, Departmental Secretary Dr. Pratima said that the new arrangement will enable students to access reliable and updated academic and research material through a single platform. This will enhance the quality of project work, seminars, theses and research activities, while reducing dependence on multiple sources. She also noted that services like ShodhShuddhi will help ensure quality and academic discipline in research writing.

During the event, Vice- Chancellor of Bihar Engineering University, Prof. Suresh Kant Verma, remarked that the partnership with INFLIBNET is a significant milestone for the University. He stated that it will strengthen the teaching and research ecosystem of the University and its affiliated colleges by integrating them with the national digital academic network.

The collaboration with INFLIBNET is expected to streamline academic resource management in technical institutions, promote integration of research data, and encourage effective use of digital platforms. Following the MoU, necessary technical arrangements, nomination of nodal officers and training programmes will be undertaken in the concerned colleges to integrate these services into regular academic and research activities.
