Bihar Cracks Down on Criminals: Police to Confiscate Illegally Acquired Properties Under New BNS Provisions

Now in Bihar, along with arresting and punishing the criminals, their illegally earned property will also be confiscated. The huge property accumulated due to criminal activities will be identified and confiscated. All the districts have been asked to identify such criminals and send the list. This information was given by ADG (Headquarters) Kundan Krishnan in a press conference held in the auditorium of the Police Headquarters on Tuesday. He said that there is a provision in the Indian Justice Code (BNS) to confiscate the property of professional criminals. The property of such criminals is on the radar of the police. Action will be taken against them soon. He said that district-wise dossiers of notorious criminals are being prepared. So far, the STF has prepared a database of 3 thousand Naxalites or people involved in Naxalite activities, besides 4 thousand criminals of all the districts. Action will be taken on this basis.

Reiterating that Bihar Police's zero tolerance policy is being strictly followed, the ADG said that the masterminds of the recent robbery incidents at Jiva Jewellery shop in Danapur near Patna and Tanishq showroom in Arrah have been found to be two notorious criminals lodged in Purulia jail in West Bengal. These include Prince alias Chandan and Sheru. Bihar Police will soon take them on remand for interrogation. Some suspicious electric equipment has also been found in the search of the cell of these two criminals lodged in Purulia jail. Many evidences related to robbery have been found in their investigation. In some other such incidents, the involvement of some old notorious criminals lodged in jail has also come to light. Such criminals will be identified and action will be taken.

He said that the number of youths from Vaishali and Arrah is high in carrying out robbery incidents in the state. Some mafia or old notorious criminals sitting in jail are misleading these youths and taking them on the path of crime. They are making gangs of these youths and making them commit crimes. The parents of the youths should also be cautious about their children.

STF SP Sanjay Singh, who was present during this time, gave detailed information about the events related to the Ara Tanishq robbery case. He said that the mastermind of the Ara robbery case, Chunmun Jha, was killed in a police encounter after the incident. Other main criminals Kunal and Vishal had given the looted goods to someone else halfway and also changed their clothes. Two criminals of this gang were caught from Ballia. In this way, 15 have been arrested so far. The three absconding ones will also be arrested soon. Two and a half kilograms of gold looted from the Tanishq showroom has also been recovered. 9 mobiles, weapons, cartridges and other items have been recovered.

In this entire case, the people who received the goods and helped have been identified. In this, the name of Nitin Pandey has prominently come up, who supplied goods and weapons to this gang. He has been arrested from Gurgaon. Action will be taken against other such people soon. So far, the police investigation team has visited 6 states and investigated. A criminal named Mithilesh was arrested from Maharashtra. In this entire case, STF SP Santosh Kumar, SP Pramod Kumar were also camping at different places.

High security jail to be built in the state

ADG Kundan Krishnan said that preparations have been started to build a high security jail in the state. Its proposal will be submitted to the Home Department soon. This jail will be at a deserted place in the state, where there will be no access to mobile network and no other facility. Complete surveillance of the visitors will be done through cameras.
