Bihar Deputy CM Launches 'Vikasit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan' to Connect 4,662 Villages with Modern Farming Techniques

Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister-cum-Agriculture Minister, Bihar Shri Vijay Kumar Sinha today inaugurated the state level “Vikasit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan” at Krishi Bhawan, Patna. The program was presided over by Secretary, Agriculture Department, Bihar Shri Sanjay Kumar Agarwal.

In his address, the Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister said that today marks a new beginning in our agricultural history. ‘Vikasit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ is not just a scheme but a symbol of self-reliance and pride of farmers. Now farmers are not just villagers but nation builders. The prosperity of villages will become the basis of the country's development. This initiative will accelerate the journey of building a ‘Vikasit Bharat’ by empowering farmers. This is the resolution of self-reliant farmers and prosperous India.

Direct communication will be established with farmers till the last row of the village

The Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister said that the objective of this program is to establish direct communication with farmers till the last row of the village. With the aim of increasing the yield of autumn (kharif) crops, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Indian Council of Agricultural Research and the Department of Agriculture in the state will run the “Vikasit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan” from 29 May to 12 June 2025. Under this campaign, farmers will be informed about new agricultural techniques, government schemes and grants, as well as their suggestions and innovations will be documented.

Farmers will get information about new techniques and schemes

Mr. Sinha said that to achieve these goals, the government has prepared a six-point strategy. Increasing production, reducing production costs, ensuring fair prices for produce, compensating losses due to natural disasters, promoting crop diversification with value addition and food processing and encouraging natural and organic farming. This campaign will try to increase the yield of farmers and get better results of their hard work by connecting them with new techniques and information.

The message of the developed agricultural resolution campaign will reach the villages

The Honorable Deputy Chief Minister said that 104 teams have been formed in 44 Krishi Vigyan Kendras of Bihar under the Indian Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Patna (ATARI, Patna), which will visit 4662 different villages and provide information to the farmers. The teams will assess the local agro-climatic conditions, soil nutrient profile, water availability and rainfall pattern. In line with the soil health card, they will advise on appropriate crops, improved seed varieties, ideal sowing techniques and balanced fertilizer use.

The goal of the campaign is to bring the vision of “Lab to Land” to the ground

Secretary, Shri Agarwal said that the goal of the campaign is to bring the vision of “Lab to Land” to the ground. The important thing is that this campaign has been designed as a two-way conversation. Farmers will share their challenges, ask questions and report regional problems like pest infestation, which will prove effective in the direction of future research, so that science and farming move forward together.

150 farmers from Patna district actively participated in the program

At the beginning of the program, a technical session was organized by scientists from Attari, Patna; Eastern Research Complex of Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Patna and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Barh, in which farmers were informed about various agricultural schemes run by the central and state government, technological innovations and modern agricultural practices. About 150 farmers from Patna district participated in this program. Farmers showed keen interest in the campaign and appreciated this step taken by the government. Farmers said that such programs not only provide information but also increase confidence.
