Bihar Government Procures Wheat at Rs 2,425/Quintal MSP with 48-Hour Payment Guarantee

The Bihar government is procuring wheat at the minimum support price through PACS or trade boards at the block level. Farmers selling wheat are also being paid within 48 hours. With this step of the state government, farmers are getting a guaranteed price for their crop.
For this, the Department of Food and Consumer Protection has issued a wheat procurement announcement for the Rabi marketing season 2025-26. In which the minimum support price (MSP) of wheat to farmers has been fixed at Rs 2,425 per quintal. This procurement process has started from April 1, 2025 and will continue till June 15, 2025.
Farmers can sell their wheat to Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) at the panchayat level or trade boards at the block level. Apart from this, some procurement centers have also been set up by the Food Corporation of India (FCI).
For wheat sale, farmers will first have to register on the Agriculture Department's portal www.dbtagriculture.bihar.gov.in. After this, they can join the procurement process by submitting application on the Co-operative Department's portal https://esahkari.bihar.gov.in. Due to this online process, transparency has come in the purchase of wheat and the role of middlemen has ended.
Through the purchase of wheat, the state government is providing fair price to the farmers for their crop, so that their economic condition improves and they are not forced to sell their wheat to the middlemen at a low price. The second biggest feature of government wheat procurement is that the farmers are getting the payment for the wheat sold within 48 hours.
