Bihar Introduces Hotline Maintenance Technology for Uninterrupted Power Supply

Bihar State Power Transmission Company Limited has started the repair work of grid substations and transmission lines using hotline maintenance technology for the first time in the state. The main advantage of this state-of-the-art technology is that there is no need to shut down the power supply during repairs, due to which consumers continue to get electricity without any interruption. This initiative has been started at Bihta-Digha grid substation of Patna West Zone and will soon be implemented in other parts of the state.

With the use of this technology, electricity consumers will get significant benefits like uninterrupted power supply, speed up repair work, and reduction in cost. In the traditional maintenance process, transmission lines had to be shut down during repairs, which disrupted power supply. Through hotline maintenance, repair work is done with the help of special safety equipment and insulated tools while the electric current continues in the line. This reduces the possibility of blackouts and eliminates the inconvenience caused by power cuts.

BSPTCL has formed a team of specially trained technicians and engineers to implement this technology, which is capable of carrying out repair work on high voltage lines using modern insulated boom trucks, gloves, helmets and other special equipment. In this technology, the workers have been trained under special safety measures for "live working on the line", so that they can carry out repairs without cutting the power.

Power consumers of the state will get direct benefit

The use of this technology will ensure more reliable, stable and continuous power supply to the electricity consumers in Bihar. Till now, power cuts were required frequently for repair work, causing trouble to domestic, commercial and industrial consumers. The implementation of hotline maintenance technology will solve this problem, which will also boost the economic and industrial development of Bihar.

The transmission company plans to expand this technology to other major grid substations and transmission lines, so that uninterrupted power supply can be ensured across the state. Under this, the company is giving more specialized training to its employees and ensuring the availability of latest equipment.
