Bihar Lalit Kala Academy Launches 15-Day Summer Art Workshop for 500 Students in Traditional Crafts

The inaugural ceremony of the "Fifteen Day Summer Art Awareness Workshop 2025", organized under the joint aegis of the Department of Art, Culture and Youth, Government of Bihar and Bihar Lalit Kala Academy, Patna, was held with enthusiasm at Kala Diirgha, Multipurpose Cultural Complex, Bharatiya Nritya Kala Mandir, Fraser Road, Patna.
The objective of this workshop is to create public awareness towards traditional arts and handicrafts and to inspire young talents towards conservation, promotion and creativity by training them.
The workshop was inaugurated by Smt. Rachna Patil, IAS, Director, Directorate of Archeology and Museums, Department of Art, Culture and Youth, Government of Bihar, Smt. Ruby, IAS, Director, Cultural Affairs, Department of Art, Culture and Youth, Sushant Kumar Secretary, Bihar Lalit Kala Academy, and Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh Public Relations Officer by lighting the lamp.
After that, everyone was welcomed on the stage by Sushant Kumar, Secretary, Bihar Lalit Kala Academy, by giving a plant.
Addressing the children and their parents present in the campus, Mrs. Rachna Patil, IAS, Director, Directorate of Archeology and Museums, Department of Art, Culture and Youth, Government of Bihar said that this is such an opportunity when children will know their interest. This workshop will make children aware of the invaluable heritage of art and handicrafts of Bihar. We have to pass on our invaluable knowledge and creation to the next generation in which this workshop will play an important role. Addressing the children, she said that when you people go to your home after the 15-day workshop, I hope you will insist your parents to help you further in this field of art. In the summer vacation, every parent wants their children to learn and do something different. This workshop will prove to be a boon for such children who have a desire to learn.
Parents should also keep motivating children to learn something new. Times have changed very fast and at present there is no difficulty in making a career of one's choice. After this workshop, it is possible that many of you choose these disciplines as your career.
At the end of his speech, he appreciated the leadership of the Honorable Minister and Secretary of the Department and emphasized that under their supervision the department will continue to do such creative work in future as well.
At the end of the program, Mrs. Ruby, IAS, Director, Cultural Affairs, Department of Art, Culture and Youth gave a vote of thanks. She expressed gratitude to everyone for their dignified presence and patient cooperation. In particular, she expressed gratitude to Mrs. Rachna Madam, whose active involvement gives energy and inspiration to everyone.
The participants participating in the workshop will be trained by experts in traditional arts like Venu Shilp, Madhubani Painting, Tikuli Art and Terracotta.
It is worth noting that this 15-day Summer Art Awareness Workshop 2025 program will be conducted under the supervision of Mr. Sushant Kumar, Secretary, Bihar Lalit Kala Academy. He informed that around 500 participants' forms had come. Out of which 30-30 candidates have been shortlisted for each discipline. Still, some such children have also come here whose name could not be shortlisted under first come, first serve. But Mrs. Rachna Patil Madam has instructed that we should adjust everyone by increasing the seats. So that no child returns disappointed. Adequate arrangements are being made for them. All the materials used by the department are also being made available free of cost to the participants taking part in the workshop.
The stage was conducted by Mr. Virendra Ji in the program. This workshop will run from 30.05.2025 to 13.06.2025 daily from 11:00 am to 3:30 pm.
The program was given dignity by the children, parents and teachers present in large numbers.
