Bihar Opens Applications for CM's Pond Fisheries Development Scheme 2025-26

The Government of Bihar is providing assistance to fish farmers through its various schemes, due to which the state has become self-sufficient in fish production. In this episode, the Directorate of Fisheries under the Animal and Fisheries Resources Department of the Government of Bihar has invited applications for the Chief Minister's Pond Fisheries Development Scheme 2025-26. Fishermen have time till August 31 to take advantage of this. Applicants applying by this date can take advantage of the scheme.
Financial assistance will be provided to fish farmers under the Chief Minister's Pond Fisheries Development Scheme. This scheme includes five major categories. Heavy subsidy of 50 to 70 percent of the unit cost is being given in all categories. Where 50 percent subsidy is being given to fish farmers of general category.
Under this scheme, efforts are being made to make the state self-sufficient in fish production as well as fish seed production. This scheme is being implemented in all the districts of the state. Through this scheme, a grant of Rs 298.46 crore has been given to fish farmers in the last three years. By taking advantage of which, fish farmers of the state have become self-reliant.
Under the Chief Minister's Pond Fisheries Development Scheme, in the five categories in which grants are given, the first category is of advanced fish production, for which 50-70 percent grant of one lakh rupees per unit cost of 0.5 acre is payable. The second category is of tubewell and pump set installation, for which 50-60 percent grant will be given on the unit cost of Rs 1.2 lakh. The third category is of installing mechanical aerators for pond fisheries, 50-70 percent grant of Rs 50 thousand per unit cost will be payable. The fourth category is of carp hatchery input assistance, in which 50-70 percent grant of the unit cost of Rs 8.00 lakh is payable. The fifth category is renovation and upgradation of fish seed hatchery, in which 50-70 percent subsidy will be given if the unit cost is Rs 5.00 lakh.
The application process has started online, and all interested beneficiaries can apply till August 31 at fisheries.bihar.gov.in. The application process will run till August 31, 2025.
