Bihar Reviews Prosecution Performance in Patna, Purnia Divisions; Push to Speed Up Pending Cases

On 30.01.2026, a district-wise review of the progress of prosecution work in all districts of Patna and Purnia divisions was conducted via video conferencing under the chairmanship of the Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Bihar.
A review of pending and executed summons, warrants, attachments, and seizures in the districts revealed that in December 2025, 13,275 summons, 6,000 bailable warrants, 6,096 non-bailable warrants, 1,198 proclamations, and 634 attachments were executed in the respective districts. 5,123 witnesses were examined in district courts, and 8,575 FIRs were registered on CCTNS, against which 14,155 cases were executed. Instructions were given to increase the execution rate of pending orders and cases in the respective districts, and to expedite the execution of pending cases related to the Arms Act.
In the said meeting, Shri Sudhanshu Kumar Choubey, Special Secretary-cum-In-Charge Director Prosecution, Shri Ranjit Shankar Prasad, In-Charge Legal Cell, Home Department, Shri Chandrashekhar Prasad Vidyarthi, Superintendent of Police, Law and Order, Police Headquarters, Shri Krishna Kumar, Joint Commissioner, Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department, Shri Rajiv Kumar, Under Secretary-cum-Legal Advisor, Law Department and all the officers of Prosecution Directorate along with Senior Superintendent of Police/Superintendent of Police of all the concerned districts, Senior Deputy Collector (Law), Public Prosecutor, Additional Chief Prosecutor, Special Public Prosecutor and Excise Superintendent participated in the meeting.
