Bihar Steps Up Pre-Monsoon Readiness, Sinha Orders Statewide Action on Waterlogging

While reviewing pre-monsoon preparations, the Honorable Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Development and Housing Minister, Shri Vijay Kumar Sinha, directed officials to ensure timely and effective solutions to the waterlogging problem in all municipal bodies across the state. He stated that cleaning of drains, strengthening of drainage systems, and identification of vulnerable areas should be prioritized. The Honorable Minister clarified that the public should not face any inconvenience and all preparations should be completed before the onset of monsoon.
In this regard, two officers have been assigned additional responsibilities based on recommendations received from the District Magistrate and Collector, Kishanganj, and the District Magistrate, Samastipur. Md. Irfan Alam, District Public Grievance Redressal Officer, Kishanganj, has been given the additional charge of Executive Officer of Nagar Panchayat Thakurganj. Meanwhile, Mr. Prince Kumar, Executive Officer, Nagar Panchayat Scindia, has been given the additional charge of Executive Officer of Nagar Parishad Rosera.
In addition to their current postings, these two officers have been assigned the responsibility of other municipal bodies under Section 41 of the Bihar Municipal Act, 2007, to ensure continuity and effectiveness of administrative work.
The Honorable Minister, Mr. Sinha, clearly directed that before the arrival of monsoon 2026, all municipal bodies should ensure proper action by cleaning drains, strengthening drainage systems, availability of pumping sets, and identifying sensitive areas. He stated that the state government is committed to providing relief to the general public and negligence at any level will not be tolerated. He directed the officials to regularly monitor all preparations.
