Bihar to Develop Sita's Birthplace Punauradham on Ayodhya Model at Cost of Rs 120 Crore

Punauradham, the birthplace of Maa Janaki located in Sitamarhi, Bihar, will be developed on the lines of Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya. For the overall development of this religious and cultural heritage, a big responsibility has been given to M/s Design Associates in Incorporated, which will work as a design consultant.
Punauradham will be developed on the lines of Ayodhya
At present, 17 acres of land is available in the temple complex, while an additional 50 acres of land has been marked for its comprehensive development. The cost of this project has been estimated at Rs 120 crore 58 lakh, which was given administrative approval in November 2024. The process of land acquisition has also started.
Sitakund will be redeveloped
The plan for redevelopment of Sitakund located in East Champaran district has also been approved. Keeping in mind the religious importance of this site, the state government has approved Rs 6 crore 55 lakh as the first installment of this year. Here the entire complex will be beautified including the construction of entrance gate, cafeteria, boundary wall, toilet block and shops. This work will be completed in the next 18 months under the supervision of Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation.
Panthpakar will also be developed
Preparations are also underway to give a grand look to the Panthpakar site under Sitamarhi district. There is a belief about this place that when Mother Sita was going to Ayodhya with Lord Ram, her palanquin stopped here. It is said that the water of the pond located here never dries up. According to the government's plan, the temple complex will be expanded here, access path will be constructed, cafeteria, parking, thematic entrance gate, drinking water, street lighting, construction of ghats and renovation of the pond. This project will also be completed by the Tourism Development Corporation in the next 24 months.
Madhubani's Phoolhar Sthan will be developed
Phoolhar Sthan located in Madhubani district, where Ram and Sita first met, that place is also being developed. For this, the first installment of Rs 5 crore has been approved in this financial year. Under the scheme, modern facilities like parking area, boundary wall, cafeteria, toilet block, entry system, development of ghat and laser fountain show will be developed. The target of turning this place into an attractive tourist destination will be achieved in the next two years.
Ahilya Sthan temple complex will also be rejuvenated
Ahilya Sthan temple complex of Darbhanga district will also be rejuvenated. A plan has been prepared to give a beautiful and spiritual look to the temple complex by increasing tourist facilities here. For this, the first installment of Rs 3 crore 74 lakh has been approved. Under the project, works like boundary wall, guest house, cafeteria, entrance gate, meditation pound, central pavilion and fountain construction will be done. Apart from this, a proposal to acquire 18.50 acres of land has also been sent so that the facilities can be further expanded in future. Also, the construction of Hotel Janaki Vihar in Sitamarhi is also a part of this scheme.
Preparations have been started to develop all the places connected with Ramayana Circuit in Bihar and make them world class. The state government has started the exercise. The development of these places is important not only from the tourist point of view but also from the religious point of view. All the places connected with this circuit are being developed, redeveloped and beautified.
