The monthly scholarship for students residing in the state-run Dr. Ambedkar Welfare Hostels will now be doubled. They currently receive a monthly scholarship of 1,000 rupees. Under the new proposal, they will now receive a scholarship of 2,000 rupees. This will benefit approximately 10,000 students from the state's Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities residing in these hostels.

The Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Welfare Department has decided to increase these scholarships. A proposal has been prepared by the department. This proposal will soon be sent to the State Council of Ministers for approval. After the Council of Ministers' approval, it will be implemented in the state.

The department has previously increased the scholarships for children studying in government schools and doubled the amount. Following this, it is now proposed to increase the scholarships for students residing in Dr. Ambedkar Welfare Hostels. Currently, 139 Dr. Ambedkar Welfare Hostels operate in the state. Dr. Ambedkar Welfare Hostels are being operated in Plus Two schools, colleges, and universities for students from SC and ST communities. These hostels offer free accommodation, digital classrooms, libraries, and monthly grants. Additionally, students living in these hostels are provided with 15 kilograms of grain, including nine kilograms of rice and six kilograms of wheat.
