Bihar to Launch 'Pink Bus' Service for Women's Safe Travel

Pink bus facility is being provided to provide safe road transport facility to women in Bihar. Under this, these pink buses will be run in Patna in the first phase. After this, this facility will start in Muzaffarpur, Purnia and Bhagalpur. It is likely to start in the month of April. Recently, the state government has presented the budget for the financial year 2025-26 in the Legislature, in which it was announced. The exercise to implement it has started at the departmental level.
All these buses will be operated at the level of Bihar State Road Transport Corporation. For this, the corporation has purchased 20 CNG mini buses. The color of these buses has also been kept pink, so that they can be identified from a distance on the roads. Right now there is a plan to run 8 such buses in Patna. Whereas, 4 buses each will be run in Muzaffarpur, Purnia and Bhagalpur.
Special attention has been given to the safety of women in pink buses. For this, from a security point of view, women employees will be trained and deputed on all other posts including driver, conductor and depot maintenance staff. This bus service will have modern equipment like CCTV cameras, GPS etc. which will ensure the safety of women. To deal with emergency, there is a panic button under all the seats, by pressing which the information of the emergency will be sent to the nearby police station or control room.
This pink bus service of state-of-the-art transport facilities in major cities of the state will give women a feeling of safe travel. This unique initiative of the state government will not only give women the assurance of safe travel. Rather, it will also prove to be an important step towards women empowerment. It will also promote women's rights and equality.
Pink buses will run from 6 am to 9 pm
Pink buses will run from 6 am to 9 pm. Its fare will be decided only after the operation of the buses starts. Its routes have been decided in the capital Patna. At present, it will run on three routes. This includes Patna City- Danapur route, Bypass-Kankarbagh-Rajendranagar-Anisabad- Phulwari route and Boring Road- Patliputra- Kurji, Digha route. Each pink bus will have 22 seats. These buses will be fitted with GPS, so that the exact location of each bus will always be available.
