Department of Science, Technology & Technical Education, Government of Bihar awarded Excellence in Technology-Driven Education Award by IIT Bombay for commitment towards competency and skill development of students
Department of Science, Technology & Technical Education, Government of Bihar has been awarded the prestigious Excellence in Technology-Driven Education Award by Spoken Tutorial, IIT Bombay. The award was presented today on 17th July 2025 on the occasion of Open Source GIS Day and National Geospatial Awards 2025 at Victor Menezes Convention Centre, IIT Bombay.
The award defines the outstanding contribution and pioneering efforts of the Department, showcasing the leverage of technology to transform and enhance the educational landscape in Bihar with a primary focus on enhancing the competency and employability of its engineering and polytechnic students. The award underlines the commitment of the Department to integrate innovative technological solutions in its educational programmes to create a more dynamic and accessible learning environment for students.
Apart from the impressive spoken tutorial initiative, the Department has actively adopted a multi-pronged approach to skill development of students. It has provided access to a wide range of online courses and digital training platforms, including MOOCs, CISCO, NPTEL courses and various industry-relevant digital training modules. These initiatives are designed to equip students with cutting-edge skills in emerging technologies, coding, data science, cyber security and advanced engineering concepts, ensuring that they are industry-ready upon graduation.
The Award for Excellence in Technology-Driven Education presented by Padma Shri A.S. Kiran Kumar, Former Chairman, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), bears testimony to the significance and impact of the Department’s initiatives. Representing the Department of Science, Technology and Technical Education, Government of Bihar, Dr. Md. Atiqur Rahman, Assistant Director (Technical), gladly accepted the award on behalf of the Department.
