Bomb Threat Emails Trigger Massive Security Alert at Courts in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh

A massive security operation was launched across Punjab and Himachal Pradesh on Thursday after bomb threat emails were received by district court complexes in Ferozepur, Moga, and Ropar, as well as the Himachal Pradesh High Court.

The coordinated threats triggered panic, prompting the immediate evacuation of judges, lawyers, court staff, and litigants from all affected judicial buildings.

According to Punjab Police sources, the threatening emails were sent to the official email IDs of the District and Sessions Judges. Following the alerts, security agencies swiftly cordoned off the premises and suspended all judicial proceedings.

Emergency protocols were activated, resulting in the evacuation of courtrooms and the clearing of parking lots to minimise any potential risk.

Heavy police deployment, including Bomb Disposal Squads (BDS) and sniffer dog units, is currently carrying out intensive search and sanitization operations across all four locations. Simultaneously, cybercrime teams have been roped in to trace the origin and IP addresses of the emails.

No official confirmation regarding the discovery of any suspicious objects has been made yet, as the search is still underway.

This wave of threats comes on the heels of similar hoax bomb calls recently targeting educational institutions in Amritsar, Jalandhar, and Patiala. Authorities are investigating a possible pattern behind these recurring threats aimed at disrupting public order.

While high-ranking officials remain tight-lipped about the contents of the email, security has been beefed up at all sensitive installations across the two states.
