Canada’s PM Mark Carney Invites Modi to G7 Summit; Indian PM Confirms Participation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday confirmed that he had a conversation with his Canadian counterpart, Mark Carney, who invited him to attend the upcoming G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Alberta, later this month.

“Glad to receive a call from Prime Minister Mark J. Carney of Canada. Congratulated him on his recent election victory and thanked him for the invitation to the G7 Summit in Kananaskis later this month,” Modi posted on X.

Highlighting the strong ties between the two nations, Modi added, “As vibrant democracies bound by deep people-to-people connections, India and Canada will work together with renewed vigour, guided by mutual respect and shared interests. I look forward to our meeting at the Summit.”

Canada, under the leadership of Prime Minister Carney, is set to host this year’s G7 Summit from June 15 to 17 in the scenic resort town of Kananaskis.

India has regularly participated in the G7's outreach sessions since 2019, having received invitations from France, the UK, Germany, Japan, and Italy in previous years.
