Chief Secretary Reviews ₹500-Crore Infrastructure Projects, Orders Fast-Tracking and Strict Action on Delays

Today, a high-level review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Bihar Chief Secretary Shri Pratyay Amrit to assess the progress of major infrastructure projects in the state with a cost exceeding ₹500 crore. The review focused particularly on projects under the Ministry of Railways, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

During the meeting, the Planning and Development Department made a detailed presentation on the updated status of the concerned projects. Senior officials from the relevant departments were present on the occasion.

The Chief Secretary expressed concern over the slow pace of some railway projects. He issued clear instructions to the concerned District Magistrates to conduct regular reviews at their level. Special emphasis was placed on resolving obstacles related to land acquisition and giving top priority to the issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs). To ensure speedy execution of road and highway projects, he directed officials to strengthen coordination with the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change so that work is not delayed due to forest clearance and related issues.

Stressing the importance of quality and adherence to timelines, the Chief Secretary said that if any contractor fails to work in line with the prescribed targets or deliberately causes delays, strict action should be taken against them as required. The government’s objective is to complete these important projects within the stipulated time and dedicate them to the public.
