CM Nitish Kumar Unveils ₹363 Crore Development Projects in Banka District

On the fourth phase of the ‘Pragati Yatra,’ Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 178 developmental projects worth a total of ₹363 crore 75 lakh 77 thousand in Banka district. The initiatives include the inauguration of 181 schemes with a cost of ₹128 crore 50 lakh 94 thousand and the foundation laying for 17 schemes worth ₹234 crore 25 lakh 83 thousand.


As part of the 'Pragati Yatra,' CM Kumar formally launched the Smart Village (Unnati Gram) at Babarchak in the Rajoun block, cutting the ribbon to mark its completion. Post-inauguration, he visited the village to assess the basic facilities provided there. Local women welcomed the CM with traditional dance performances. During his visit to the newly constructed Primary School in Babarchak, the CM interacted with both the students and teachers. The children greeted him with applause, and the CM encouraged them to focus on their studies and work hard to build a bright future.


The Chief Minister also inspected a pond created under the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali campaign and praised its construction, noting the well-built steps along the pond's edge for public convenience. He also planted saplings on the pond's banks. The CM further visited the Rural Market set up by the Jeevika Self-Help Group and explored the range of products on display. The women of the Jeevika groups expressed their gratitude, saying that with the government's blessings, their economic situation has improved, and their children are receiving better education.


The CM handed over symbolic checks during his visit, including ₹3 crore 87 lakh 56 thousand under the Sustainable Livelihoods Program for various rural and urban Jeevika groups. He also distributed symbolic checks totaling ₹86 crore 34 lakh to Jeevika-supported Self-Help Groups through various banks. In addition, he handed over keys to beneficiaries under various schemes, including the Prime Minister's Housing Scheme, the E-Rickshaw under Sustainable Livelihoods, and others.


The Chief Minister visited the Integrated Child Development Project at the Smart Village, Babarchak, and interacted with the children and teachers there, urging them to focus on shaping the future citizens of the country. He also reviewed the community building and work shed constructed under the Bihar Mahadalit Development Mission in Babarchak. In the village, families who were previously landless and homeless have now been provided land, with proper facilities such as schools, health centers, clean drinking water, and community halls.


During his tour, CM Kumar inaugurated a newly built sports ground in Babarchak, where he also spoke with local athletes. The Chief Minister visited various department stalls and presented symbolic checks to beneficiaries of different welfare schemes, including the Bihar Century Unorganized Workers’ Welfare Scheme, the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, and others.


The Chief Minister also inspected the newly constructed Odhni Jam Island Resort in Banka, reviewing its administrative building, restaurant, and other facilities. He directed the officials to speed up the construction of the theme park and cottages in the resort. Following this, the CM visited the site for the proposed Medical College and Hospital in Banka, located at Rajpur Mauza in Amarpur block. He directed the officials to expedite the construction, which will provide much-needed medical facilities to Banka and the surrounding areas.


CM Kumar also inspected road projects worth ₹534.53 crore in Amarpur block and ₹255.18 crore in Banka for widening and strengthening the Sultan Ganj-Tarapur-Belhar-Katoriya-Chandan-Darvamara Path and the Bhagalpur-Amarpur-Banka Road. These roadworks are expected to ease transportation and reduce travel time in the region. The CM reviewed the work of the Banka Police Center and instructed officials to develop the Parade Ground and ensure that facilities for sports and greenery are included in the design.


At the event, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chowdhury, Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chowdhury, Sports Minister and Banka District In-charge Minister Surendra Mehta, Building Construction Minister Jayant Raj, legislators Manoj Yadav, Bhudev Chowdhary, MLC Vijay Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary to the CM Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena, DGP Vinay Kumar, and other senior officials attended.


This series of inaugurations and foundation-laying marks a significant step in the government's commitment to improving infrastructure and services in Banka, enhancing quality of life for its residents, especially in education, healthcare, and economic empowerment.
