Delhi High Court Tells Wikipedia: "If You Don’t Like India, Don’t Work in India" Amid Contempt Notice

The Delhi High Court on Thursday (September 5) issued a notice to Wikipedia on a contempt petition filed by news agency ANI. The court issued a contempt notice to the widely used free Wikipedia, strongly objecting to ANI's failure to disclose information about edits to its login page.
Angered by the news agency's non-compliance with its order regarding the defamation suit, the court told Wikipedia that if it did not like doing so, it should not work in India and should give a platform to the central government in the country. Will prompt to block.
Asian News International (ANI) alleged that Wikipedia has failed to comply with orders to disclose information about customers who made derogatory edits to its login page on the forum. "We will stop your business transactions here," Justice Naveen Chawla said. “We will ask the government to block Wikipedia. You have made the same argument before. If you don't like India, please don't work in India,” he said.
In its lawsuit, ANI has alleged that the defamatory edits allowed by Wikipedia have referred to the news agency as a propaganda tool for the BJP-led government at the Centre. The HC had earlier issued a summons to Wikipedia and ordered it to disclose the names of the three people who edited ANI's Wikipedia page.
Wikipedia, acting as a free online source, allows the voluntary creation and editing of login pages around the world. Its counsel allegedly told the court that they had some arguments to make about the previous order of the court and the process was taking time as the forum was located outside India.
