Delhi Weather Alert: IMD Issues Orange Warning for Rain, Thunderstorms and Gusty Winds

An orange alert has been issued for Delhi on Tuesday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning across several parts of the national capital. The warning indicates the likelihood of potentially disruptive weather conditions, urging residents to remain cautious.
According to the IMD, gusty winds are expected to blow at speeds of 40–50 kmph, with occasional gusts reaching up to 60 kmph. There is also a possibility of isolated hailstorms in parts of the National Capital Region (NCR), which could further impact normal activities.
The weather department stated that surface winds are likely to originate from the southwest direction during the afternoon, with speeds reaching up to 15 kmph. As the day progresses into evening and night, wind patterns are expected to shift towards the southeast, with speeds gradually decreasing to below 10 kmph.
Despite the anticipated rainfall and storm activity, temperatures in Delhi are expected to remain above normal levels. The city recorded a minimum temperature of 19.4 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, while the maximum temperature is likely to hover around 33 degrees Celsius.
The combination of rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds may lead to disruptions in traffic and daily routines, particularly in vulnerable areas. Authorities have advised residents to stay alert and take necessary precautions as weather conditions evolve through the day.
