Developed India: Historic Opportunity for Youth & Innovation | DPSRU

New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor and Chancellor of Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University (DPSRU), Vinai Kumar Saxena, on Wednesday said that Viksit Bharat (Developed India) is not merely a slogan, but a call to the youth of the country and a significant opportunity for them to shape India’s future.
Delivering the presidential address at the university’s 8th Annual Convocation Ceremony held at Vigyan Bhavan, Saxena underlined that DPSRU occupies a distinctive position not only in India but also globally, particularly in the discovery and development of new medicines.
Congratulating students who received their PhD, Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees with distinction, the Chancellor struck a reflective note. “It is easy to drown someone by becoming a river, but far more difficult to save someone by becoming a channel,” he observed. He added, “One who understands that praise often conceals falsehood and criticism often hides truth has truly understood life.”
The Chief Guest, Anil Sahasrabuddhe, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, urged universities to go beyond merely signing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and build substantive partnerships with industry.
Encouraging Vice-Chancellors and faculty members, he said, “If we take two steps forward, industry leaders will also take two steps forward.” He also cautioned students about the dual nature of Artificial Intelligence, pointing to both its transformative potential and possible misuse, while stressing that its benefits far outweigh the risks when used responsibly.
Earlier, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ravichandiran V. presented an overview of the university’s recent achievements. He said the DPSRU Innovation and Incubation Foundation (DIIF) has facilitated 35 start-ups, generating approximately ₹155 crore in equity and raising nearly ₹10 crore in external funding. With Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR)-sponsored programmes, GMP-certified small-scale manufacturing facilities and GLP-certified analytical laboratories for MSMEs, he said, DPSRU is steadily emerging as a hub for pharmaceutical innovation.
At the Smart Delhi Ideathon 2025, he added, students showcased innovative solutions aimed at building a smarter and healthier capital.
The Vice-Chancellor also congratulated the team behind “Nanoclean Global Pvt. Ltd.”, a start-up incubated at DPSRU, for winning the Jwalit Alniche Gold Medal for 2026, and reiterated that the university seeks to nurture job creators, not merely job seekers.
Registrar Dr. Ramchander Khatri and Associate Dean Dr. Prabodh Chander Sharma also highlighted the achievements of the graduating students.
Secretary Ms. Nandini Paliwal, IAS, along with a large number of students, parents and distinguished guests, attended the ceremony.
