Dr. Sunil Kumar Assumes Charge as Bihar’s Environment Minister

Dr. Sunil Kumar, the newly appointed Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department, Government of Bihar, today assumed charge in his departmental office on the first floor of the Secretariat. On this occasion, Secretary of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department, Mrs. Bandana Preyashi, PCCF(Hoff), Mr. Prabhat Kumar Gupta, Special Secretary, Mr. Kanwal Tanuj, CWLW, Mr. Arvinder Singh, Mr. Surendra Singh, Mr. Abhay Kumar Singh, Mr. A.K. Dwivedi, Mr. Subodh Kumar Gupta, Mr. S. Chandrashekhar, Mr. Chitranjan Sharma, Chairman of Bihar State Pollution Control Board Dr. D.K. Shukla, Member Secretary Mr. Neeraj Narayan along with senior officers and employees of the department were present.

After assuming charge, the Honorable Minister introduced himself to the departmental officers and employees and shared his priorities. He said that environmental protection, expansion of forest area and promotion of tourism will be included in his priorities. He said, "I am already familiar with this department, because I have been an MLA from Nalanda headquarters, where Rajgir, a major historical and tourist center of Bihar, also falls. There are immense possibilities of forest and environmental conservation here. If work is done with the right intention and dedication, then we can achieve the goal of 'Green Bihar' soon."

Dr. Sunil Kumar clarified that he will first do a departmental review and after that work will be started on a concrete action plan. He talked about making special efforts to increase forest area, control pollution and reduce the effects of climate change.
