ECI to Celebrate 16th National Voters’ Day at New Delhi Headquarters

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday announced that it will mark the 16th National Voters’ Day (NVD) on Sunday at its headquarters in New Delhi. The theme for NVD 2026, “My India, My Vote”, along with the tagline “Citizen at the Heart of Indian Democracy”, highlights the central role voters play in strengthening the country’s democratic system.
President Droupadi Murmu will preside over the event as the Chief Guest, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to inclusive and participatory democracy. Union Minister of State for Law and Justice (Independent Charge) Arjun Ram Meghwal will attend as the Guest of Honour. The programme will be led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi.
As part of the celebrations, the President will address the gathering and personally present Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) to newly enrolled young voters, symbolising the empowerment of the next generation of citizens.
The President will also confer the Best Electoral Practices Awards in several categories, including the use of technology, election management and logistics, innovative voter awareness initiatives, enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct, training and capacity building, and outstanding contributions by the media.
Two key publications will be released during the event — 2025: A Year of Initiatives and Innovations, which highlights the Election Commission’s major achievements over the past year, and Chunav Ka Parv, Bihar Ka Garv, documenting the successful conduct of the 2025 Bihar Legislative Assembly elections. A special video showcasing the ECI’s global leadership in electoral management and democratic development will also be screened.
In addition, a dedicated exhibition will showcase various aspects of the electoral process, including the preparation of electoral rolls and the conduct of elections. It will also highlight recent voter-centric initiatives and the efficient management of the Bihar Assembly elections.
The observance of National Voters’ Day serves as a reminder of the importance of voter participation and the Election Commission’s continued efforts to ensure free, fair and transparent elections across the country.
