Energy Secretary Inspects New Grid Substation in Bettiah, ₹145.98-Cr Project to Boost Power Supply

nergy Secretary and Chairman and Managing Director of Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited, Mr. Manoj Kumar Singh, conducted a surprise inspection of the 132/33 kV grid substation under construction at Amwaman (Senuwari) in Majhauliya block of Bettiah, as well as the Madhopur Power Substation.

The Energy Secretary stated that the completion of the grid substation will ensure uninterrupted and quality power supply in the area. Line losses will also be reduced and technical problems related to supply will be resolved.

Currently, the area is supplied with power from the Motihari Grid Substation, Raxaul Grid Substation, and Bettiah Grid Substation. Due to the long line lengths, consumers are facing difficulties in obtaining quality and uninterrupted power. The construction of the grid substation will reduce the length of the 33 kV lines. Under the project, the 132 kV double-circuit Raxaul-Amwaman transmission line and two 132 kV bays will be constructed at the Raxaul grid substation. Once this grid is operational, power supply to the surrounding areas, including the Majhauliya block of the Bettiah subdivision, will be further strengthened. The total cost of this project will be ₹145.98 crore.

During his inspection of the power substation at Madhopur in Majhauliya on Friday, the Energy Secretary directed the zonal office to remove scrap from regional offices, update the printed register for preventive maintenance, and register the names and mobile numbers of Panchayat-level linemen/manpower at the fuse call center. He also directed the provision of the necessary materials for working on live lines for fuse calls and the use of all safety equipment. The Energy Secretary also provided necessary guidance regarding maintaining uninterrupted power supply and proper maintenance of the substation.
