Federation of Indian Direct Selling Industries Hosts 10th National Conclave in Patna, Focuses on Regulatory Clarity and Consumer Protection

The Federation of Indian Direct Selling Industries (FIDSI) successfully organized the 10th National Conclave on Direct Selling & Consumer Markets at Taj City Centre, Patna, focusing on regulatory clarity and sustainable growth in Bihar.

The event was graced by Chief Guest Shri Abhay Kumar Singh, I.A.S., Secretary, Food & Consumer Protection Department, Government of Bihar, and Guest of Honour Shri Bibhuti Ranjan Choudhary, I.A.S., Director & Special Secretary, Directorate of Consumer Protection.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Abhay Kumar Singh emphasized effective implementation of the Consumer Protection (Direct Selling) Rules, 2021, strengthening state monitoring mechanisms, structured SOPs, inter-departmental coordination, and consumer-centric enforcement. Shri Bibhuti Ranjan Choudhary highlighted transparent enrollment procedures, compliance documentation, district-level monitoring, and strict vigilance against illegal pyramid schemes.

Adv. Abhilash Thomas noted that generating even 2% employment growth is challenging for governments, and a regulated direct selling ecosystem can significantly contribute to employment generation.

Mr. Rahul Sudan, General Secretary, FIDSI, welcomed Bihar Government’s proactive monitoring policy, stating that strong regulation prevents Ponzi schemes and enhances consumer trust.

Mr. Gopal Kundu spoke on responsible product usage, while Mr. N. Shah highlighted women empowerment through direct selling.

The conclave reaffirmed government–industry collaboration for ethical and sustainable growth.
