Flight with 110 Indian Students Evacuated from Iran to Arrive in Delhi Tonight

Many families back home will be relieved when a plane carrying more than 110 Indian students who were evacuated from Iran lands in Delhi on Wednesday night. Ninety of them are Jammu and Kashmiri students who were initially relocated to Armenia as part of the evacuation.
According to the Jammu and Kashmir Students’ Association, the group traveled from Armenia to Doha, and from there boarded a flight to New Delhi. The flight is expected to land at Indira Gandhi International Airport around 10:15 PM.
Iran is home to more than 4,000 Indian nationals, nearly half of whom are students. A significant number hail from Jammu and Kashmir, with many pursuing medical and professional degrees.
Most of the evacuated students are enrolled at Urmia Medical University in Iran, said Nasir Khuhami, president of the J&K Students’ Association. “Ninety students from Kashmir Valley, along with others from different states, totaling 110, have safely crossed into Armenia,” he shared earlier.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that the Indian Embassy has been in constant touch with the Indian community in Iran, ensuring support and coordination throughout the evacuation. "For safety reasons, students in Tehran were moved out of the city with help from the Embassy,” the MEA said in a statement.
