Flood crisis deepens in Ajnala after Ravi embankment breach

A major breach in the Ravi River embankment near Ajnala has worsened the flood situation, leaving thousands of residents in distress. Rising waters have inundated several villages, forcing families to abandon their homes as water levels reached up to five feet inside residential areas.
Member of Parliament Gurjeet Singh Aujla, who has been on the ground since morning, said in a media interaction that around 360 Border Security Force (BSF) personnel and nearly 5,000 civilians are currently trapped due to the floods. He expressed concern over inadequate government arrangements, stating that the situation remains extremely critical.
According to Aujla, many BSF troops stationed at forward posts in Ramdas and Ajnala including Cheema, Chhanna, and Dharam Prakash are surrounded by floodwaters. He stressed that immediate acceleration of rescue operations is necessary to prevent further loss.
Meanwhile, in Kakkaar village of Raja Sansi constituency, devotees gathered at the local Gurdwara Sahib to offer prayers, seeking divine intervention to protect people from the ongoing devastation.
