Governor KT Parnaik Urges Discipline, Professionalism, and Humane Approach in Arunachal Police Force

Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik on Saturday emphasized the importance of discipline, professionalism and humane approach in policing while gracing the 53rd Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) Raising Day at the Police Training Centre (PTC), Banderdewa.
“Discipline is the bedrock of policing- it ensures honesty in action, humility in conduct, and commitment to duty even when no one is watching,” the Governor said. He added that professionalism upholds the dignity of the uniform and empowers the police to serve with pride and excellence.
Highlighting the need for Smart Policing, Parnaik, a tech-savvy himself, urged greater adoption of technology, regular orientation, and continuous training to meet evolving challenges. He also stressed the importance of physical fitness, moral character, and familiarity with the new criminal laws - Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) - for a more responsive and humane justice system.
In his address, the Governor extended greetings to all serving and retired members of the Arunachal Pradesh Police and their families. He expressed confidence that every member of the force would continue to uphold their proud motto - ‘Satya, Seva, Suraksha’ (Truth, Service, Protection). “When you offer service, you earn trust; and when you ensure protection, you strengthen the very foundation of our State,” he said.
The Governor lauded the police force for its professionalism, courage, and unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state. He said their disciplined conduct and people-centric approach have earned public trust, ensuring stability even during challenging situations.
Drawing from his experience as an Army Commander, Parnaik also stressed the importance of strong welfare measures for police personnel and their families, stating that an officer can serve with full dedication only when their family’s well-being is secured.
Earlier, the Governor laid a wreath at the Martyrs’ Pillar, reviewed the Raising Day Parade commanded by Dy SP Nabam Rikam, and received the salute of the marching contingents before presenting the best marching contingent trophy to the women’s contingent led by SI Tage Ami. He also distributed the DGP’s Commendation Disc to meritorious officers.
Parnaik also inaugurated an exhibition on new criminal laws, a new classroom building at PTC with advanced training facilities, and later flagged off five mobile forensic vans, two traffic interceptors- the first of their kind in the state, and one recovery van.
The five mobile forensic vans will be stationed at Itanagar and SIT PS to cover the Itanagar Capital Region, and at Pasighat to cover Central Range, Namsai to cover Eastern Range, and at Yachuli to cover Western Range, police said.
State Home Minister Mama Natung, DGP Anand Mohan, and IGP (Law & Order) Chuku Apa also spoke on the occasion. Other highlights of the event included unarmed combat and dog squad demonstrations, cultural performances, and a band display by VKV, PTC.
