Union Minister Chirag Paswan also met the family, assuring them that their demands would be fulfilled. Meanwhile, DGP Shatrujeet Kapoor has been sent on leave, and Om Prakash Singh has been given additional charge.

Police records show that on October 6, Puran Kumar’s gunman, Sushil Kumar, was arrested for allegedly demanding a bribe from a liquor trader. The following day, on October 7, Puran Kumar died by suicide at his residence in Chandigarh. Investigations in both cases are ongoing.
