Heavy Rainfall Disrupts Traffic, Prompts Advisories in Delhi-NCR

Continuous rainfall across Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Wednesday caused disruptions in traffic and flight operations, prompting authorities to issue advisories for commuters and air travelers.

The Indira Gandhi International Airport acknowledged the bad weather but assured that flight operations were continuing as normal. “Delhi is experiencing inclement weather conditions, but all flight operations at Delhi Airport are currently normal,” an official advisory stated. The airport added that its ground teams are coordinating with all stakeholders to minimize inconvenience for passengers.

Travelers have been advised to use alternative transport options like the Delhi Metro to avoid delays in reaching the airport.

SpiceJet also issued a weather advisory for its passengers, warning of potential delays. “Due to bad weather in Delhi (DEL), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may get affected,” the airline said in a post on X (formerly Twitter), urging passengers to check their flight status on its website.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more rain, with light to moderate showers accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning expected through the night. Thursday is also likely to bring cloudy skies and moderate rainfall across the city.
