INDIA bloc parties hold virtual meeting to finalize strategy for monsoon session

Leaders of the opposition INDIA bloc held a virtual meeting on Saturday to build consensus on key issues they plan to raise during the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament, which starts on Monday. The aim was to show unity ahead of what promises to be a crucial session.
Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh said that 24 political parties are involved in these discussions—the first time in weeks that the alliance has coordinated so closely.
The meeting included senior leaders like Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress parliamentary party chief Sonia Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, CPI(ML) general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, and others.
Top issues on their agenda include the Election Commission’s special revision of electoral rolls in Bihar, the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, and the controversial Operation Sindoor, according to news agency PTI.
The leaders are also expected to discuss US President Donald Trump’s comments about halting hostilities between India and Pakistan, as well as the call for impeachment of Justice Yashwant Varma, who is under scrutiny after burnt currency notes were found in his residence following a fire.
The Congress party has decided to push for debates on Jammu and Kashmir’s full statehood, rising crimes against women, the Ahmedabad air crash, increasing unemployment, and the distress faced by farmers, PTI reported citing sources.
Earlier this week, Sonia Gandhi chaired a meeting of the Congress Parliamentary Strategy Group at her residence to finalize the party’s positions on many of these issues.
This INDIA bloc meeting, just two days before Parliament’s monsoon session, marks a clear attempt to present a united opposition front inside the House.
