India’s Economic Growth and Technology Leadership Take Center Stage at Davos 2026

India’s economic progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emerged as a key topic of discussion among world leaders at international forums in Switzerland. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday said that the Indian delegation is actively participating in all major meetings to highlight how the country is combining modern technology with inclusive growth.
Speaking from Davos, Vaishnaw said he was joined by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and emphasized that India’s development trajectory and economic growth have become central themes in discussions. “India’s leadership in technology and its focus on inclusive growth are being widely recognized and discussed across all forums,” he said.
In parallel, the United States announced that it will host the inaugural Critical Minerals Ministerial on February 4, led by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The ministerial will bring together global partners to enhance cooperation on critical mineral supply chains, which are vital for economic and national security, technological leadership, and the transition to clean energy.
The US Department of State said the ministerial will focus on strengthening international collaboration to secure reliable and resilient supply chains. Senior US officials, including Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and Export-Import Bank President John Jovanovic, along with private-sector representatives, will participate in the event.
India is represented at these discussions by Ashwini Vaishnaw, who oversees Railways, Information and Broadcasting, and Electronics and Information Technology. Participants at the ministerial underscored the urgent need to address vulnerabilities in critical mineral supply chains, which have become increasingly concentrated and susceptible to disruption. The US also outlined measures already undertaken, as well as plans for building secure and diversified supply chains for these essential minerals.
