India–Spain Higher Education Conference Marks 70 Years of Diplomatic Ties

The Capital City - Delhi turned into a real Education Advancement Arena where the best Educators from across both the Countries met and discussed the best steps to be taken to transform the Educational Sector. Yupp! The occasion was the two-day long India-Spain Conference on Higher Education hosted by India from 19TH to 20TH February - 2026.

The Conference organised with the support of the Embassy of Spain in India provided a perfect stage and platform for the Educators from across the length and breadth of both the Countries to hold a Dialogue on the changing arenas of Education and adopt & opt out for the ways to strengthen the Diplomatic ties between the Countries.

Delivering the Closing Ceremony address of the two-day long Conference, the Union Minister for Education, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan underlined the Conference as a symbol of Celebrating the India-Spain Dual Year - 2026 that marks successful 70 Years of Diplomatic ties, education, research and Youth Exchanges between the two Countries. The Minister also stressed on the India’s National Education Policy - 2020 that has proved to be a landmark in enabling the global academic collaboration between the two Countries and the world on a larger extent.

Shri Pradhan also called upon the Democracies to lead in shaping the responsible innovation. He also regarded the Conference as moving from dialogue to delivery. The Minister emphasized that the bridges of knowledge that are built today, will enable us in shaping the confidence of our Young Brigade in the near future.

Dr. Vineet Joshi, Secretary, Higher Education regarded the Conference as a perfect platform that has brought together the leadership from the two Countries’ Higher Education Systems at a defining moment in the bilateral partnership. Dr. Joshi underlined the Universities’ pivotal roles in driving innovation, technological advancements coupled with economic growth and societal ties.

The Conference registered participation by a total of 30 Rectors and Senior Academic Leaders representing the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (C.R.U.E.) from Spain and 70 Indian Higher Education Institutions.

Such initiatives being taken in the recent times are a mark of indication about India’s growing popularity around the globe to be a destination Country for pursuing Higher Education in the long term.
