Lucknow Senior Citizen Alleges Harassment by Judges, Police Over Traffic Accident

In a troubling case that has captured the attention of the public, a senior citizen in Lucknow, Mr. Vivek Sanadhya, is alleging harassment and extortion by local judges following a minor traffic accident of a car which has already been Sold! The incident, which took place over three months ago, has escalated into a quagmire that raises questions about judicial ethics and police conduct.

Background of the Incident

The incident occurred when Mr. Sanadhya's erstwhile vehicle was involved in a pile-up caused by the reckless driving of another party. Notably, the complainants—Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Smt. Sakshi Garg and Additional Director of the Judicial Training and Research Institute (JTRI) Shri Kamal Kant Gupta—were not present at the scene when the accident happened. Eyewitness accounts suggest that the driver of the complainant's vehicle was primarily at fault due to sudden braking, which led to the collision.

Mr. Sanadhya’s Son, a government officer posted outside of Lucknow, along with his daughter-in-law, who suffered a slip disk from the impact, decided to handle the situation amicably. They chose not to escalate the matter, allowing the other vehicles to leave the scene. This decision, however, appears to have backfired as the complainants later pursued legal action.

Allegations of Harassment

Despite the absence of any concrete evidence against Mr. Sanadhya, including video footage or audio recordings to support the claims, Lucknow police have reportedly begun harassing him. Allegedly acting at the behest of the judges, officers have been calling Mr. Sanadhya repeatedly, pressuring him to settle the matter out of court. This is particularly concerning given that legal provisions exempt senior citizens from having to appear at police stations for such matters.

According to Mr. Sanadhya's representatives, attempts to communicate with the complainants have been met with resistance. The tone of these interactions has raised suspicions of extortion rather than a genuine desire for resolution. "It’s clear that they are using their positions to exert undue influence," stated one of Mr. Sanadhya's advocates.

Financial Repercussions

The financial impact of the incident has been significant for Mr. Sanadhya, who incurred repair costs amounting to ₹25,000, supported by receipts. His daughter-in-law's medical treatment for her injury further complicates the situation, as medical reports confirm the severity of her condition.

Critically, the complainants have been accused of attempting to extort compensation despite the fact that their driver was at fault. Legal experts suggest that if the complainants wish to pursue a claim, they should do so through the proper legal channels, where insurance companies typically handle such cases efficiently.

Questions Raised

● Judicial Ethics: Why is the Police involved in a matter that could have been resolved amicably?

● Police Conduct: What is the role of the police in this situation, and why are they applying pressure on a senior citizen?

● Insurance Coverage: If the vehicles involved are insured, why is there an attempt to extort the entire amount from Mr. Sanadhya?

● Integrity: How can the judicial system maintain integrity when such allegations surface?

As this case unfolds, it serves as a poignant reminder of the potential misuse of power within the Police and judicial system. The public is left to ponder the implications of a senior citizen being coerced by those who are meant to uphold justice.

The situation remains fluid as it appears to be a clear case of arm-twisting by those in authority.
