Modi Launches EV Exports to 100 Countries as US Tariffs Loom, Declares "Make for the World"

A day before US Tariffs against India are to come into force, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that Electric Vehicles (EVs) made in India will be exported to 100 countries from today, starting a new journey ‘Make in India, Make for the World.’

Coinciding with Ganeshotsav beginning tomorrow, the Prime Minister said ‘’a new chapter is being added to India’s ‘Make in India’ journey. This ‘Make in India, Make for the World” is a big leap towards our goal. From today, Electric Vehicles made in Bharat will be exported to 100 countries,’’ the Prime Minister said in an address at the launch of green mobility initiatives at Hansalpur in Gujarat.

‘’Now, in dozens of countries around the world, the EVs running there will carry the mark—'Made in India,’ the Prime Minister said.

Along with this, hybrid battery electrode manufacturing is also starting today, he said and asserted that India is not going to stop here.

‘’We have to do even better in sectors in which we have performed well. For this, we are emphasizing on mission manufacturing. In the coming time, our focus will be on the futuristic industry. India is taking off in the semiconductor sector. Six plants are about to be ready in the country. We have to take semiconductor manufacturing further.’’

Exhorting the people to advance the campaign of Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) for a Viksit Bharat (developed India) by 2047, he said Swadeshi should become the Mantra.

‘’Let us be Vocal for Local. Swadeshi should become our life mantra…walk proudly towards Swadeshi…By 2047 we will surely build a ‘Viksit Bharat’. Bharat will continue to increase its contribution to the welfare of the world,’’ he said.

He said India has the power of democracy and the advantage of demography. India also has a very large pool of skilled workforce creating a win win situation for India’s partners. Suzuki Japan is manufacturing in India and the cars are being exported back to Japan.

‘’This not only reflects the strength of Bharat-Japan relations but also the trust that global companies have in Bharat. In a way, companies like Maruti Suzuki have become brand ambassadors of Make in India.’’

The most critical part of the EV ecosystem, batteries until a few years ago, were completely imported. To strengthen EV manufacturing, it was necessary that India also manufacture batteries. With this vision, the foundation of the TDSG battery plant was laid here in 2017. Under a new initiative by TDSG, three Japanese companies together will manufacture cells in India for the very first time in this factory. Even the electrodes for battery cells will now be

To make manufacturing in India efficient and globally competitive, industrial corridors are being developed, creating plug and play infrastructure, and building logistics parks.

Stressing on making pro-development policies, he asked states to emphasize on single window clearance.
