Modi to Pakistan: "Choose Peace—Or Face the Consequences"

Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked 11 years in office on Monday with a powerful address during a rally in Bhuj, Gujarat. Blending pride in India’s economic achievements with a strong message on national security, he didn’t hold back in his remarks on Pakistan and terrorism.

Modi urged them to reject terrorism and choose a peaceful path forward, speaking directly to the people of Pakistan, "To free Pakistan from the disease of terrorism, its people must step forward. Live a life of peace, eat your bread—or else, my bullet is ready," he said, making it clear that India will not tolerate cross-border threats.

The Prime Minister also celebrated a major economic milestone, announcing that India has now overtaken Japan to become the world’s fourth-largest economy. "While India is moving ahead with tourism, Pakistan still treats terrorism like tourism. That mindset is dangerous for the entire world," Modi said. He challenged Pakistan’s citizens to reflect on what their country has gained from its choices. "Those who promoted terrorism have only destroyed your future," he added.

Modi also inaugurated development projects worth over ₹50,000 crore, emphasizing the government’s continued focus on infrastructure and growth.

Turning to security matters, Modi recalled the terror attack in Pahalgam and expressed disappointment over Pakistan’s silence. "I waited for 15 days, hoping Pakistan would act against terrorism. But it seems terror is their bread and butter," he said.

He spoke about "Operation Sindoor," a recent Indian military operation aimed at dismantling terror infrastructure. Modi revealed that when Pakistani forces targeted Indian civilians on May 9, India’s military responded swiftly and forcefully, destroying several air bases across the border. "This mission is not just about retaliation—it’s about protecting humanity," he said.

At the rally, the family of Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, one of the first women officers to brief on India's cross-border strike during Operation Sindoor, was also present, highlighting the growing role of women in the country’s defense forces.

In a speech that combined economic pride with a no-nonsense stance on terrorism, Modi made it clear: India is moving forward—and those who threaten its peace will face consequences.
