MSME Technical Officers Boycott Lunch Nationwide Over Delayed Promotions

All India MSME Technical Officers Association boycotted lunch on Wednesday in the entire country including Delhi. The association organized a hunger strike demanding immediate promotion of Assistant Director and other level IEDS or Indian Enterprise Development Service officers. Hundreds of officers participated in it and boycotted lunch during lunch time.

The Delhi-based CPWD Association, Patna-based Bihar Shramjeevi Patrakar Union and various associations based in Tamil Nadu have supported the demand for immediate implementation of the pending promotion of IEDS officers.

It is worth noting that the Indian Enterprise Development Service was formed between 2014 and 2016 on the initiative of the Honorable Prime Minister to strengthen the MSME sector in the country, but due to the indifference of the bureaucracy, more than a hundred posts are lying vacant due to not getting timely promotion of officers of all levels and the work of development of MSME is affected.

There is anger among the Assistant Director level officers of Indian Enterprise Development Service over the fact that their promotion file has been stopped and new people are being brought through direct recruitment, due to which the danger of the officers working for years becoming junior has increased, while on the other hand while some officers have got two promotions each, the affected Assistant Directors have not got a single promotion.

To draw attention to their demands, these officers organized a lunch boycott and demonstration in the Delhi Headquarters as well as in the MSME offices in various states of the country.
