Mumbai Police Provides Security to Kapil Sharma After Two Shootings at His Canada Café

Comedian and television host Kapil Sharma has been given security cover by Mumbai Police after two back-to-back shooting incidents at his newly launched café in Surrey, Canada, sparked serious safety concerns.

The most recent incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, August 7, outside Kap's Café, located in Surrey’s Newton neighbourhood. According to a statement from Surrey Police, officers responded to reports of gunfire around 4:40 a.m. near the 8400 block of 120 Street. While police did not name the establishment, Canadian media outlets confirmed the targeted location was Sharma’s café.

This marks the second such attack in less than a month. On July 10, gunshots were fired at the same café, shortly after it had opened. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in either incident. However, the repeated shootings have raised alarm over the possibility of targeted violence, with investigations now underway into potential links between the attacks and broader criminal activity.

Photos from the July shooting showed at least 10 bullet holes in a café window, with another pane shattered. The café is part of a mixed-use building with shops on the ground floor and residential apartments above, although the number of occupants remains unclear.

The 43-year-old comedian, best known for The Kapil Sharma Show, opened Kap’s Café earlier this year as part of his overseas business ventures. Sources confirmed that Sharma has been in contact with Canadian law enforcement and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

Mumbai Police, taking note of the international incidents, have now assigned a security detail to Sharma as a precautionary measure.
