Nagaland to Host National Red Run 3.0 on October 30 to Raise HIV Awareness

The Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS), in collaboration with the Nagaland Olympics Association and the Nagaland Athletics Association (NAA), will hold the National Red Run 3.0 at Chumoukedima on October 30.

The event will be hosted by the Nagaland government and supported by the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO).

The Red Run 3.0 is a flagship initiative aimed at raising awareness on HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), promoting healthy and active lifestyles, and engaging youth and communities in collective action for health and well-being.

The event’s open (general) category run, covering 2 km, is expected to see participation from around 700 runners.

This includes representatives from schools, colleges, youth organisations, churches, government departments, local communities, NGOs, and other partners.

In addition, the 10 km competitive category will feature state-level champions from 35 states and union Territories, each represented by two boys and two girls.

Meanwhile, in view of the event to be held from Agri Expo at 4th Mile to C.T. Square Chumoukedima, the Dimapur police commissionerate today issued a traffic advisory

for the safety and convenience of the runners and the road users.

In the advisory, Dimapur commissioner of police Aotula T Imchen said the entire right-hand side stretch of NH 29 from Agri Expo till 7th Mile junction will be closed for all vehicular traffic.

It said this stretch will be exclusively reserved for the Road Race runners and event management. All feeder/approach roads on this side of the stretch will be closed to all motorised traffic for the duration of the event.

The restrictions will commence 4 am till 7 am on October 30.

The left-hand side of NH 29 (opposite lane) will be used as a two-lane for vehicles plying towards Chumoukedima, as well as vehicles travelling towards Dimapur.

Overtaking, stopping and parking of vehicles have been strictly prohibited along this stretch, while the maximum speed limit in this stretch has been fixed at 30 km/hour.

Entry and exit of heavy vehicles will be restricted from 3rd Mile junction to Patkai junction except for school buses and emergency service vehicles.
