National Sugarcane Research Institute to be Established in Pusa, Bihar

A national and international level sugarcane research institute will be set up in Pusa. Efforts have been intensified at the departmental level to establish it. This information was given by Sugarcane Industry Minister Krishna Nandan Paswan on Tuesday. He was addressing a press conference organized in his office room located in Vikas Bhawan Secretariat. On this occasion, the minister launched the online licensing portal created by the department. With the help of this app, many types of services are being provided to sugarcane farmers.
On this occasion, the minister said that through this new app, many important information related to sugarcane cultivation will be given to the farmers. They will be told the tricks of advanced farming. Which precautions should be taken in which month in sugarcane cultivation, which medicines should be used in case of which type of disease, which equipment can reduce the cost, which fertilizers to give in which type of weather, how to do irrigation management and how to do waste management, proper information will be given on all such things.
He said that in the coming time, our objective will be that sugarcane farmers get high quality seeds and equipment. So that their cost is reduced and production increases. Among these 15 sugar mills, 8 are sugar mills which were deteriorating due to being closed for a long time. Their assets have been handed over to BIADA. Now the process of setting up industries in them is being done.
Emphasis on high quality seeds and machinery
The main objective of the Sugarcane Industry Department is to provide high quality seeds and modern machinery to sugarcane farmers. This will not only increase production but also reduce costs. This effort of the department is an important step towards doubling the income of farmers.
New beginning for farmers
The minister said that this research center and digital initiative is a new beginning for sugarcane farmers. With the help of modern techniques and government assistance, sugarcane farmers of Bihar will not only be able to upgrade their farming but will also be able to make their mark at the global level. He said that the process of license required to run jaggery units has been completely made online. With this, farmers and entrepreneurs will not have to visit departmental offices.
Departmental Secretary B. Karthikeya Dhanji said that the Bihar government is determined to promote sugarcane production and related industries. Our priority is that farmers and investors get licenses in a simple and transparent manner so that they can make a significant contribution to the economic development of the state
