Nitish Kumar Reviews Key Development Projects in Rajauli, Inspects Bihar’s Largest Floating Solar Plant

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reviewed on Friday several development projects, including the multi-village water supply scheme, fish farming activities, the floating solar power plant at Fulwaria reservoir and the proposed industrial area in Rajauli.

The Chief Minister inspected the 10 MW floating solar power plant being built on the Fulwaria reservoir on the model of 'Niche machhli upar bijli.'

During inspection, officials informed the CM that the reservoir covers 30 acres from where clean drinking water is being supplied to 90 nearby villages because the groundwater in this area contains fluoride, which can cause health problems.

Kumar also inspected the modern fish farming system with 182 fish cages installed in the reservoir. He reviewed the land identified for the proposed industrial area in Rajauli, where 220 acres of land is available for industrial development.

The Fulwaria reservoir, located near Hardia village, was built between 1979 and 1988. It is spread across 6.38 sq km and supports irrigation in the Rajauli, Sirdala, and Narhat blocks. The reservoir has a large catchment area and stores water from the Tilaiya river, helping farmers in irrigation.

The Rajauli Multi-Village Water Supply Scheme, worth Rs 109.98 crore, has been running since 2020. Under the scheme, filtered water from the reservoir is supplied to 89 wards across 10 panchayats, benefiting 9,191 households. Fish production in the reservoir has increased significantly.

The officials said that a 10 MW floating solar plant is being set up by Suryam International Pvt. Ltd., using only 30 acres of water surface. The rest of the reservoir will continue to be used for fish farming and other purposes. Once complete, it will be Bihar's largest floating solar project.

According to the officials, for industrial development in Rajauli, 220.48 acres of land have been marked, including 81 acres of government land. The process of acquiring the remaining land has started.

The Chief Minister also visited the upgraded higher secondary school in Chiraila village and interacted with students staying in the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Boys' Hostel.

He later visited stalls set up by departments and JEEViKA women's groups. He handed over a symbolic cheque of Rs 1.29 crore to 137 self-help groups as bank-linked loans. He said that JEEViKA women are helping improve Bihar's economy and the government will continue supporting them.

Nitish Kumar visited the Health Sub-Centre and Health and Wellness Centre at Hardia and reviewed the medical facilities, availability of medicines, staff deployment and telemedicine services.
