Nitish Kumar to Distribute Jobs and ₹8 Crore in Sports Awards to Bihar’s Athletes

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will distribute selection letters for government jobs to 87 outstanding athletes from Bihar and sports honorarium worth approximately ₹8 crore to 812 athletes. The event will be held on October 5th at a ceremony at the State Sports Academy, Rajgir.

Disclosing this information, Mr. Ravindran Shankar, Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Bihar State Sports Authority, stated that under the government's "Bring a Medal, Get a Job" scheme, 87 athletes who won medals in national and international sports competitions this year are being awarded selection letters for government jobs. The 87 athletes include 39 women and 48 men.

These athletes are being issued selection letters for appointments in various departments, from Class One onwards, in various categories, as needed, according to their qualifications.

Among the athletes selected for jobs, 10 have been selected as Sub-Inspectors of Police in the pay grade of ₹4,200, of which 8 are women. One player has been selected in the pay grade of Child Welfare Officer of Rs. 5400/-, 65 players have been selected in the pay grade of Lower Division Clerk of Rs. 1900-2000/- and 11 players have been selected as Office Attendants.

Further, Mr. Shankar informed that this year, as State Sports Award, a Sports Samman amount of about Rs. 8 crore (7,43,00,000/-) will also be distributed by Chief Minister Mr. Nitish Kumar at this function among a total of 812 people including players, coaches, sports associations and sports officials of Bihar who have won medals and performed outstandingly in national and international level competitions in 44 sports disciplines. The 813 people receiving the Sports Samman amount include 152 para athletes, 631 athletes, 24 coaches, 5 sports associations and one sports official. Of the total 783 players, 297 are women and 486 are men.

From 2022 to this year 2025, sports honorarium worth about Rs 23.5 crore has been distributed by the government among 2085 outstanding players of Bihar.
