Nitish Kumar Unveils Ambitious ₹50 Lakh Crore Investment Push to Transform Bihar’s Industrial Landscape

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today conducted a high-level review meeting of the Industries Department and said the NDA government has begun work on a plan to bring Rs 50 lakh crore of investment into Bihar over the next five years.
He said that efforts are being made to ensure that Bihar’s youth no longer have to migrate out of the state for employment.
The CM also said that Bihar will hold investor summits in major commercial hubs across the country and abroad to attract large industries, and has issued necessary instructions to senior officials.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Kumar said that large-scale industrialisation is essential for rapid economic progress and job creation in any state. The number of industrial areas has increased from 46 in 2005 to 94 in 2025, he informed, and that the number of industrial units has risen from 1,674 in 2005 to 3,500 in 2025.
Similarly, Bihar’s industrial exports, which stood at a mere Rs 25 crore in 2005, have grown to Rs 17,000 crore in 2025. The number of MSMEs has expanded from 72,000 in 2005 to 35 lakh in 2025. The contribution of industries to Bihar’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has increased from 5.4% in 2005 to over 21% in 2025. These achievements reflect the state government’s efforts towards Bihar’s industrial development, he added.
The Chief Minister said that to place Bihar among India’s top five investment-friendly states, the Industries Department will hold investor summits in major commercial hubs across the country and abroad to attract large industries.
He said the NDA government has already begun work on a plan to bring Rs 50 lakh crore of investment into Bihar over the next five years.
This includes setting up five new mega food parks with modern facilities, developing 10 industrial parks and 100 MSME parks, training seven lakh individuals in industry relevant skills and entrepreneurship, establishing an MSME Directorate and opening MSME centers in all districts. Ensuring export and market access for local products is also a priority.
Nitish Kumar said that under the Chief Minister Entrepreneur Scheme, a total of 44,073 entrepreneurs have received financial assistance, enabling them to start their own enterprises and generate significant employment.
To transform Bihar into Eastern India’s new tech hub, a top-level committee has been formed to prepare and monitor the implementation of plans for establishing a Defence Corridor, Semiconductor Manufacturing Park, Global Capability Centre, Mega Tech City, and Fintech City.
Another high-level committee has been set up to develop Bihar as a Global Back-End Hub and Global Workplace. The Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) in Dobhi (Gaya), spread across 1,700 acres, is progressing rapidly and will be inaugurated soon. Based on the IMC model, 31 new advanced industrial parks including 10 sector-specific parks such as textile and pharma parks, will be developed across 14,036 acres of land in 29 districts.
A total of Rs 26,000 crore will be spent on accelerating industrial growth in the state.
The Chief Minister said that Bihar now has all the necessary quality infrastructure required for industries including good road connectivity, strong railway and air links, uninterrupted power supply and significantly improved law and order.
During the meeting, Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit presented the action plan prepared for the state’s industrial development over the next five years.
He informed that all necessary facilities would be provided to set up industries in the state. Five new mega food parks with modern food processing and logistics infrastructure will be developed. Additionally, 10 industrial parks and 100 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) parks will be established. Large-scale training will also be provided in industry-relevant skills and entrepreneurship.
He further said that the Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) spread over 1,700 acres in Dobhi, Gaya is being developed at a fast pace. On similar lines, 31 new state-of-the-art industrial parks will be created across 29 districts on a total land area of 14,036 acres.
